Custom Stonework / Brickwork

BEFORE - This Pennsylvania Bank Barn was converted into a home. We removed the existing pointed mortar joints back to the bedding mortar and repointed the entire structure in an inverted "V" style joint or what is locally known as a "Colonial Ridge" style joint.
AFTER - The owners wanted a smooth transition from the driveway elevation to that elevation of the front door threshold. deGruchy Masonry designed and built the mortared retaining wall, (left side), which curves and tapers down from 14’ to 2’. Dry-laid terrace walls were used to complete the arc in the forefront and to retain earth at two more separating elevations. Connecting Pennsylvania blue stone walkways guide the owners and their guests by lighted stair wing walls.

deGruchy Masonry designed and built this radius and inverted-radius step arrangement.

We used local fieldstone for the risers which matched the house. We used PA bluestone for the treads and thermal-finished the edge so to not expose the sawn edge of these curved stones.

BEFORE and AFTER - This customer requested that we do a stone veneer using local fieldstone.
